Harry began his third year at Hogwarts on a high note when he accidentally ran away from his Aunt Marge and was freed by the Minister of Magic himself. Then he learns that the killer, Sirius Black, plans to kill him, but Mr. Weasley made him an amazing promise, and no matter what he heard, he wouldn’t back down. Confused, Harry agreed.
As he returns to school with this knowledge, he discovers that the Dementors, soul-sucking beasts, have been around Hogwarts to protect the Black students. Harry is more affected by the Dementors than the other students due to his previous fear, and he quickly decides to learn how to defend himself as he begins to faint whenever they get close. Find the teacher in Professor Lupin, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, who begins to teach Harry the Patronus Charm, which is the only word that will work against evil creatures.
As the school year progresses, children are buried under piles of homework. Hermione had been stressed out by her huge teaching job and none of them could figure out how she managed all her classes. It doesn’t help that Hermione Crookshanks’ cat repeatedly tries to eat Ron’s Crust mouse, causing the two friends to fight endlessly over the animal. They stop talking completely when Crookshanks is revealed to have eaten Scabby and Ron is devastated. Harry and Black locked eyes when he entered the castle, but Black didn’t stop. Things come to a head at the end of the school year when the program takes place. First, Ron’s Scabby Mouse is still alive and truly professional in appearance. This wizard, Peter Minus, chose to hide in this way in order to spy on Harry and his friends in the name of Lord Voldemort. Harry found out that it was Peter, not Sirius Black, who betrayed his parents to Voldemort. Just when Harry was certain that Peter would be punished for his crimes, he escaped into the night.
Sirius, long regarded as the murderer and accomplice of Voldemort, is made innocent. Harry also found out that Sirius was his grandfather. He was happy when, for a moment, he thought he would finally be free of the Dursleys and be able to live with Sirius, but Sirius had to flee the Ministry to avoid arrest.
Professor Lupin, Harry’s favorite teacher, quits when he is revealed to be a werewolf. He avoids attacking the children, and it is Sirius who saves their lives when he transforms into a large, angry dog to protect them.
It was certainly a full stomach, but Harry was glad that Sirius had done well and was free in Azkaban. What comforts him is that he finally has a family member, so to speak, who is taking care of him.
